Name: Martha
Age: 7
Town: Sale, Greater Manchester

We’re very grateful that Martha decided to give her 7th Birthday to Made With Hope and children in Tanzania. It was a lovely surprise for us, so we got in touch with Martha to find out what inspired her to make this generous decision….

What made you want to ask for donations to Made With Hope?

My teacher Mrs Brown gave an assembly on Made With Hope. I thought Made With Hope was really interesting. I like it because it helps children have their right to an education. We learnt about the UN Convention of Children's Rights at school.

How much did you raise?

£52.50

How did you persuade people to give you donations instead of presents?

I wrote a message to them to say I wanted a 5 pound note instead of a present for my birthday. I said I would give half the money to Made With Hope. Most people did give me five pounds but I got a few presents too.

If somebody's birthday was coming up and they were thinking of fundraising like you, what would you say to them? Any tips?

Choose a charity you know about, one which helps people with their rights. Do some research into what the charity will do with the money you raise.

Thank you and Happy Birthday Martha!!!
