Most of the pupils who attend Marurani and Mzimuni Primary school are coming from families with very low incomes who are not able to provide their children with the basic uniform and equipment needed to attend school. These students then attend school in no uniforms, barefoot, and with little or no stationery to make notes and do their school work in.

Schools Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Project

Made with Hope have partnered with Ndoto in Action to implement our handwashing project at Manyire and Umoja primary schools. The project kicked off in July 2021 and we are so happy that students are now able to use the new handwashing stations. Looking forward the school is hoping to see a reduction in illness and absence amongst students.

Impact of Coronavirus in Tanzania

In Tanzania, less than 10% of schools have access to functioning hand washing facilities, and only 20% have water supply facilities. This means that over three quarters of Tanzania’s population of children are likely to be attending school with a lack of guidance on Covid-19 measures from the government, and do not have any access to adequate WASH facilities.

New Partnership: Mzimuni Primary School

We are delighted to have started working with a new school last year! We first collaborated with Mzimuni Primary by implementing our Emergency Handwashing Project , consisting of new handwashing stations to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. We hope to continue to work with Mzimuni to make a difference for all its 629 pupils!
