New Partnership: Maweni Primary School

Maweni Primary School is a government school located located in Muriet, Arusha. It is extremely rural and has no access to fresh drinking water, no electricity and no public transport. The government provide one tank of water a month for the school, which equates to just 3 days supply.

The local community are all part of the Massai Tribe, living in mud huts and sole occupation is tending to their cattle. The community have recently believed in the importance of education and parents are sending their children to Maweni Primary School to try and escape extreme poverty.

Our Impact by 2023:

This is a new partnership since February 2019. We have agreed to partner with Maweni Primary school
and the local community. Together we have set out the targets below to improve the students education:

School Builds

  • Build additional classrooms

  • Refurbish wooden kitchen with brick building and fuel efficient stoves.

  • Install more rain water harvesting units enough rain water to support the school.

  • Build additional girls toilets

  • Install 10 hand washing stations

  • Provide a girls menstruation programme

  • Provide solar lamps to students to complete homework outside of school where they have no electricity
